OUR ATELIER IN THE CATSKILL MOUNTAINS

In 2020, we scouted a 12,000 square foot 19th century brick structure on Main Street in the charming historic village of Franklin in the Catskill Mountains of New York. With historic preservation and restoration close to our hearts, we saw this as an opportunity of our own and developed a master plan for the building that would serve the community and regenerate growth for small businesses.

After a year of construction, we opened the first public space in August 2022, our shop - LAVA atelier, which sells a collection of mostly vintage and antique furniture and lighting from Meg’s global travels, along with handmade furniture and art from local fabricators and artists. The space itself is our workshop to explore objects and materials from across the world and through various periods of time.

After closing on the property in the Summer of 2021, we swiftly began the renovation work to salvage the structure by installing a new roof and several heating systems throughout the spaces, while peeling back layers of misinformed renovations over the years that were concealing the original details and materials from when it was originally built in 1869.

The shop is open weekends including holiday Mondays from Memorial Day through Thanksgiving weekend from 11-3. We have a loft directly upstairs that’s available to rent and is also shoppable, where everything is for sale.
